What is Business Intelligence?
According to Josh Fruhlinger and Mary K. Pratt in an article in CIO.com, Business Intelligence tools access and analyze data sets, and present analytical findings in reports, summaries, dashboards, graphs, charts and maps to provide users with detailed intelligence about the state of the business.
Why?
Data analytics has been talked about in the legal industry, for several years now. In fact, many of the larger law firms have professional Data Analysts on staff. At Coyote Analytics, we wanted to create something that would allow small and mid-size firms the ability to analyze their own data at the fraction of the cost of hiring their own data analysts.
How?
To get you started, Coyote Analytics will create a Data Warehouse that includes certain dataset templates. This will allow you to build your own dashboards, reports, and visualizations. This warehouse includes user friendly named objects and fields, to effortlessly analyze your data.
This warehouse can be used on different business intelligence platforms, including Microsoft Power BI, Tableau, Excel, and Qlik.
To remove processing load from your transactional database, we synchronize the warehouse overnight. So, first thing in the morning, when you log into your system, your dashboards and reports will be updated through the previous business day.

- Accounts Receivable
- Fees Billed and Collected
- General Ledger – by category and 3 month rolling average
- Productivity – by Billing, Originating, Relationship, Responsibility, or Working Timekeeper
- Profitability – by timekeeper, client, practice group, employee type, and office
- Realization
- Revenue and Expense – 3 month rolling average
